Move light, see bright
The Fenix HM55R is the one headlamp you can count on for almost anything: trekking and camping in the hills, night trail runs, fishing at dawn, working late on a site or in a workshop, or handling a power cut at home. It delivers up to 1200 lumens and reaches 175 metres, yet weighs just 105 g including battery and headband, so you'll forget it's there.
Three light sources for every situation
- Spotlight (Luminus SST25, up to 1200 lumens, 175 m): a focused, cool-white beam for seeing far down a trail, across a field or up a slope.
- Floodlight (Luminus SST20V, high colour rendering Ra90, up to 350 lumens): a wide, warm, natural light for close-up tasks like reading, cooking, setting up camp or repair work, with true-to-life colours.
- Red light: steady red to preserve your night vision and avoid dazzling your group, or red flash as a warning signal.
Large, glove-friendly switch
One large side switch controls everything, and it's easy to find and press even with gloves on:
- On / off: press and hold for half a second.
- Straight to red: double-click when off to go directly to red light, with no white flash first.
- Change brightness: single-click to cycle through the levels.
- Spot ↔ Flood: press and hold for 1.2 seconds to switch between spotlight and floodlight.
- Memory: returns to your last-used mode and brightness.

*Turbo runtime includes automatic step-down to manage heat. Figures are from Fenix laboratory testing (ANSI/PLATO FL1) with the ARB-L18-1600 battery at 21±3°C; real-world results vary with conditions and battery.
Turbo lights up the trail far ahead, the spotlight's lower levels cover walking and hiking, and the floodlight handles camp and close-up work. On the lowest floodlight setting, the HM55R runs for nearly 6 days on a single charge.
Smart brightness downshift
If you look down at something very close, such as a map, a knot or your hands, while the light is bright, the HM55R senses it. When the head is within about 6 cm of an object for 1.5 seconds, it automatically drops to 30 lumens to prevent glare and heat. Look away and it returns to your previous brightness. You can switch this feature on or off.
Replaceable battery and USB-C charging
The HM55R runs on a user-replaceable Fenix ARB-L18-1600 (18350, 1600mAh) battery. Carry a spare and swap it in seconds on long treks. It charges inside the headlamp through an internally waterproofed USB Type-C port in about 2.5 hours on any 5 V / 1 A or higher adapter, and the headlamp can be used while charging.
The switch indicator shows battery level for 3 seconds each time you switch on, or with a single click when off: green solid (80–100%), green flashing (50–80%), red solid (20–50%) and red flashing (1–20%).
