The Fenix HM53R is a 2-in-1 removable headlamp for people who refuse to carry two lights when one will do. Pull it off the headband in seconds and it becomes a standalone handheld flashlight, or clip it to a pocket, belt, or pack with its tough body clip for hands-free use without the strap at all. At 1,200 lumens and a beam reaching 518 feet, it doesn't sacrifice power for versatility — and with white and red light sources, including a flashing red for emergencies, it adapts to whatever the moment calls for.
Weighing just 102 grams, the HM53R is IP68 waterproof and rated for 2-meter drops, so job sites, trails, and rough handling are all fair game. A magnetic tail cap gives you quick one-handed attachment to any metal surface, and the rechargeable 18350 battery charges via USB-C for up to 135 hours of runtime, with a battery indicator and lockout mode so nothing drains in your pack by accident. One light, two configurations, zero compromises.
The Fenix HM53R Rechargeable Headlamp is a versatile, high-output lighting solution for those who prioritize extended performance without sacrificing a compact form. By utilizing a higher-capacity 18350 battery, the HM53R delivers a powerful 1200 lumens and significantly longer runtimes than smaller, ultra-compact alternatives. Whether you’re navigating a technical trail or tackling a home project, this headlamp provides the perfect balance of power and size.
Functionality is the HM53R headlamp’s greatest strength. It easily detaches from the headband for use as a right-angle flashlight, complete with an integrated clip and a magnetic tail cap for hands-free mounting to most metallic surfaces. A single, glove-friendly side switch provides intuitive control over five brightness levels and three Red light modes.
Built to endure, the HM53R features an IP68 waterproof rating and an inner-waterproof USB Type-C charging port. Rugged, reliable, and multi-functional, the Fenix HM53R is an essential tool for anyone who needs a dependable light that adapts to any environment.

BATTERY SPECIFICATIONS
- *18350 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care.
- Using low-quality batteries or mishandling batteries (such as short-circuiting or overheating) could lead to combustion and jeopardize the safety of users and property. Any adverse effects resulting from the use of low-quality batteries are not covered by any Fenix warranty or liability.
- Using quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion. *CR123A batteries should be reserved for emergency use only. Do not charge while using CR123A batteries! Using CR123A batteries will reduce available output levels and shorten runtime. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery.
Battery Replacement
Unscrew the battery cover counterclockwise and insert the battery in accordance with the polarity marks, then screw the battery cover back on.
Charging
- Open the anti-dust plug and connect the USB Type-C end of the charging cable to the charging port of the headlamp.
- The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.
- Once charging is completed, be sure to unplug the charging cable and close the anti-dust plug.
- With the lamp turned off, the normal charging time of the included Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery is approximately 2.5 hours from depleted to fully charged with a 5 V/1 A or above charging adapter.
Note:
- The headlamp can be operated while charging.
- When the voltage level is lower than 3.3 V, only the Low output of each mode and the Flash output can be activated*.
- Recharge a stored headlamp every four months to maintain the optimum performance of the battery.
- *This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery.
Power specifications:
- Charging voltage: 5 V
- Charging power: 5 W
- This headlamp does not support fast charging.
- Only use a certified USB charging adapter that complies with the government safety standards of the country or region where this product is sold.
Battery Level Indication
- With the lamp turned off, single click the switch to check the current battery level and the battery level indicator will last for 3 seconds.
- Green light on: saturated 100% - 80%
- Green light flashes: sufficient 80% - 50%
- Red light on: poor 50% - 20%
- Red light flashes: critical 20% - 0%
*This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery.
Intelligent Overheat Protection The headlamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 55°C/131°F or above, it will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 55°C/131°F, the headlamp will gradually recall the preset output level.
Low-voltage Warning
When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until the lowest output is reached. When this happens in the lowest output, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind users to recharge or replace the battery in a timely manner. *This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1600 battery.
