154CM is an American premium stainless steel that has been trusted in quality cutting tools for decades. On the Charge+ it gives you a finer, longer-lasting edge than the Wave+ while staying easy to look after. The second blade is serrated 420HC, so rough jobs like rope and cord don't dull the main edge.
What else makes the Charge+ worth the upgrade
Sharp on day one, sharp on day one hundred
Hardened to 58–60 HRC, the 154CM blade keeps its bite through months of opening parcels, trimming straps and cutting cord, long after a softer blade would need a stone.
When it finally needs touching up, a few strokes on a diamond or ceramic sharpener bring it back.
Bits for almost any screw, in the box
Most multi-tools come with one or two bits. The Charge+ includes a set: hex, Torx, square, Phillips, flat and an eyeglass driver.
That covers furniture, bikes, electronics and appliances without a separate toolkit. Large and small bit drivers hold them firmly.
One hand to open, every tool locks
Both blades, the saw and the file sit on the outside. Flick them open with your thumb without unfolding the pliers.
Every tool locks open, so nothing folds back while you're pushing on it. Press the lock to close it again.
Lighter handles, carry it your way
The handles are 6061-T6 hard-anodised aluminium: lighter and warmer in the hand than bare steel, with a smooth, premium finish.
A removable pocket clip and a quick-release lanyard ring come in the box. Here's what each one does.

The two small metal parts in your box
Customers sometimes ask what these are. They're carry accessories that come free with the Charge+, and you can fit or remove them whenever you like.
Removable pocket clip
Fits onto the end of the handle so the tool rides clipped inside your trouser pocket, like a pen. Leave it off if you carry the tool in a sheath.
Quick-release lanyard ring
Attaches a cord or tether to the tool. The quick-release lets you unhook the tool from the lanyard in a second without untying anything. It's useful on ladders, rooftops, boats and treks, where a dropped tool is a lost tool.
Built-in lanyard ring
The tool also has a fixed lanyard ring on the handle, so you can tie a cord directly even without the quick-release ring.

Stainless steel
Brushed steel with grey anodised aluminium handles. The classic look, and it hides everyday scratches well.
Black
An all-black finish for a low-key look. Edges will slowly show bare metal with heavy use, which many owners like on a well-used tool.

The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. Normal wear (including wear on the finish), misuse, lost bits, and lost or stolen tools are not covered. Keep your LightMen invoice, as it's your proof of purchase.
Keep it working like new
Clean
Rinse in warm, soapy water, then dry it fully with the tools open. Wipe the aluminium handles with a soft cloth.
Oil
Put a drop of light oil on each pivot and work the tools open and shut a few times.
Sharpen
154CM holds an edge well and sharpens cleanly on a diamond or ceramic stone. Touch it up before it gets fully dull.
Keep the bits together
Store the bits in a sheath pocket or small pouch so the set stays complete.

What are the two metal pieces in the box?
The removable pocket clip and the quick-release lanyard ring. The clip lets you carry the tool clipped inside a pocket. The lanyard ring attaches a cord or tether, useful on ladders, boats or scaffolding. See how each one works.
What makes 154CM better than the Wave+ blade?
154CM is a harder, premium stainless steel (58–60 HRC against 55–59 HRC for the Wave+'s 420HC). In everyday use the Charge+ blade stays sharp noticeably longer between sharpenings, while staying easy to resharpen on a diamond or ceramic stone.
Does it come with a sheath?
No, the sheath is sold separately. Our nylon sheath (with or without pockets), Heritage leather sheath and Ainsworth leather sheath all fit it in size Large. A sheath with pockets is a good way to carry the bit set too.
Should I choose the Charge+ or the Wave+?
They share the same layout. The Charge+ adds a 154CM blade that stays sharp longer, lighter aluminium handles, a cutting hook, a pocket clip and a full bit set in the box. The Wave+ costs less. If you'd buy bits and a clip for the Wave+ anyway, the Charge+ is the better value.
Will more Leatherman bits fit?
Yes. Both bit drivers take Leatherman bits. The Bit Kit adds more sizes, and the Bit Extender reaches recessed screws.
Can I take it on a flight?
Not in your cabin bag, because it has blades. Pack it in checked luggage.
Can I get it engraved?
Yes, laser engraving is free on Leatherman tools. The aluminium handles engrave especially cleanly. See examples of our engraving.
